The Minnetonka Chapter of SPEBSQSA was chartered in 1959, in Chaska, Minnesota with 39 members.
We put on our first Parade of Quartet’s at Chaska High School that year for $5.00 and the house was packed.
After meeting in Chaska for 7 years, we moved closer to town to entice more members and met at the Elks Club in Hopkins .
We held our annual show for the the next few years at Minnetonka High School, again, to full houses.
We got our membership up to over 100 when we decided to practice in a church and thus improve our image. It worked! We started having our annual shows at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis.
When the cost became prohibitive, we settled for the great venue at the Hopkins Center for The Arts, and practice at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church one block north of 394 on Hopkins Crosstown.
